China's outward direct investment scale ranks among the top in the world

On the 23rd, the Ministry of Commerce, the National Bureau of Statistics, and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange jointly released the "Statistical Bulletin on China's Outward Foreign Direct Investment in 2025". The bulletin shows that China's outward foreign direct investment scale remains among the top in the world, showing a trend of diversified investment.
In 2025, China's outward direct investment flow will be 213.58 billion US dollars, an increase of 11.1% over the previous year, and the stock of outward investment will be 3.4 trillion US dollars, maintaining the top three in the world for nine consecutive years and accounting for 7.4% of global investment. The outbound investment industry covers 18 sectors of the national economy, mainly concentrated in four areas: leasing and business services, wholesale and retail, manufacturing, and finance. In recent years, it has gradually expanded towards green and low-carbon, digital economy, and green minerals.
As of the end of 2025, China has established 58000 enterprises overseas, covering 189 countries and regions. The total number of employees in overseas enterprises is 4.761 million, including 2.965 million foreign employees.
In 2025, Chinese enterprises will directly invest US $46.05 billion in the countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road", accounting for 21.6% of the foreign investment flow of the year. There will be 22000 overseas enterprises in the countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road", with an investment stock of US $407.25 billion. (Outlook New Era)
