The People's Bank of China held a symposium on foreign financial institutions

2026-09-22

On September 21, the People's Bank of China held a symposium for foreign financial institutions to further optimize the business environment and promote high-level opening-up of the financial industry. The Governor of the People's Bank of China, Pan Gongsheng, introduced the current economic and financial situation and the implementation of monetary policy in China, listened to the opinions and suggestions of foreign financial institutions, and exchanged responses on issues of concern to various institutions.
Pan Gongsheng stated that the overall operation of the Chinese economy is stable and improving, with continuous structural optimization and new progress in high-quality development. The People's Bank of China will conscientiously implement the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, implement a moderately loose monetary policy, and create a favorable monetary and financial environment for stable economic growth and smooth operation of financial markets. Continue to promote high-level financial opening up, continuously improve policy supply, steadily expand two-way opening of financial markets, continuously optimize cross-border payment services, and make it more convenient for the international use of RMB.
Foreign financial institutions believe that since the beginning of this year, the People's Bank of China has made positive progress in a series of measures such as deepening financial industry reform and opening up, optimizing the business environment, and facilitating the international use of the renminbi. I hope to continuously optimize relevant policies and strengthen communication with the market.
The heads of 15 foreign financial institutions, including Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank, DBS Bank, Abu Dhabi First Bank, Indonesia's Manderley Bank, BNP Paribas, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, UBS Securities, Manulife Financial, BoFeng Asset Management, and Canada Pension Fund, attended the meeting and made speeches.
