Recently, the fourth phase of the "Beautiful Chinese Calligraphy - Chinese Boutique Font Library Project Public Welfare Application Plan" released 14 latest calligraphy font libraries in Beijing. At this point, the China Fine Character Library Project has released a total of 61 fine character libraries, presenting the evolution of Shang and Zhou bronze inscriptions, pre Qin stone drums, Qin seal script bamboo slips, Wei steles, Tang Kai, and even Ming and Qing literati calligraphy in the digital world.
The font library released this time includes: Mao Gongding bronze script, Shigu seal script, Qin Jian, Qin Xiaozhuan, Zhong Yao Xiaokai, Shiping Gong statue regular script, Zhang Heinu regular script, Dong Meiren regular script, Yu Shinan regular script, Yan Zhenqing running script, Zhu Yunming small regular script, Deng Shiru seal script, He Shaoji running script, and Wu Changshuo seal script. From the perspective of the origin of calligraphy, this issue's character library traces back to the Shang and Zhou dynasties' Maogongding bronze inscriptions, the pre Qin stone drum inscriptions, the unified atmosphere of "writing with the same script" between the Qin bamboo slips and the Qin small seal script, followed by the origin of the Kai script method of Zhong Yao's small Kai script, the strict and refined style of Northern dynasty statues and Sui dynasty epitaphs, and then to the flourishing of Chonghe Boya and Yan Zhenqing's running script in the early Tang dynasty, and finally to the literati calligraphy and ink of Zhu Yunming, Deng Shiru, He Shaoji, and Wu Changshuo, connecting the complete chain of the evolution of Chinese character calligraphy. Among them, the Maogong Ding is a bronze heavy vessel from the late Western Zhou Dynasty, with an inscription of nearly 500 characters, making it the longest known bronze vessel with inscriptions; The stone drum script is hailed as the "ancestor of stone carving" by later generations.
It is reported that the "Chinese Character Beauty" public welfare application plan was launched in 2020, providing free 5-year usage authorization to public welfare organizations, news and publishing units, government agencies, schools, museums, and individuals, and covering large-scale exhibitions, sports events, and other application scenarios. The aim is to use the achievements of technology and cultural integration to convey the beauty of Chinese characters to the public, provide richer high-quality font choices, and integrate calligraphy classics into people's lives.
At the press conference, users such as the "Study Strong Country" learning platform, China Spiritual Civilization Network website, Xinhua News Agency New Media Center, Beijing Daily, Peking University, Guangdong Publishing Group Co., Ltd., People's Literature Publishing House, Tsinghua University Art Museum, and Shenzhen One Foundation Public Welfare Foundation officially obtained the font library authorization certificate.
