China Laos' 'Peace Train-2026' Joint Exercise Opened in Vientiane

The joint humanitarian medical rescue exercise "Peace Train-2026" between China and Laos opened in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on the morning of the 7th. Leaders from the Ministry of National Defense, the General Political Department, the General Logistics Department, the General Technology Department, and the Ministry of Public Security of Laos, as well as defense attach é s from the Chinese Embassy in Laos, members of the Chinese Guidance and Coordination Group, and participating officers and soldiers from the Chinese and Laotian armies attended the opening ceremony.
At the ceremony, the national anthems of China and Laos were first played. The Minister of the General Logistics Department of the Lao People's Army and the leader of the Chinese Guidance and Coordination Group delivered speeches and announced the official start of the joint exercise.
The Minister of the General Logistics Department of the Lao People's Army, Zhandi, delivered a speech saying that the joint exercise of the Laos China "Peace Train" and the series of medical service activities are a platform to enhance the joint rescue and response capabilities of the two armies to natural disasters, fully reflecting the close and friendly relationship between the two parties, two countries, and two militaries. He believes that through this joint exercise, it will further promote the deepening of medical and logistics cooperation between the two armies.
Wu Dan, the leader of the Chinese Guidance and Coordination Group, stated that since 2017, the Chinese and Lao armies have held this series of joint exercises six times. The "Peace Train" medical team's return to Laos this time is not only a vivid practice of the era's requirement to build an all-weather China Laos community with a shared future in the new era, but also an important practice to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the logistics and medical fields between the two armies, which will further enhance the traditional friendship between the two countries.
According to He Zhen, the Chinese chief director of the joint exercise, the event will continue until late September, with both sides deploying more than 700 troops. This joint exercise is based on the international humanitarian medical rescue of super typhoon disasters, with a three-level command and four level rescue system, relying on health trains, field rescue equipment, unmanned intelligent equipment, etc., organizing mixed training, full process joint training, and actual military exercises, exploring cross-border joint medical rescue operation modes, and further exercising and improving the coordinated action and emergency response capabilities of the two armies' medical services.
