The Forum on the Inheritance and Development of European Law was held at the University of Macau on the 2nd. More than 10 senior legal scholars from mainland China, Macau, and other countries and regions held discussions and exchanges on the theme of "Promoting Sustainable Development Together: Exchange and Learning from European and Legal Experience", with over 100 people attending the forum.
Bian Lixin, a special envoy of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Macau, stated in his speech that since Macau's return to the motherland, the central government has always ensured the successful practice of "One Country, Two Systems" in Macau in accordance with the law, fully supported the Macau Special Administrative Region in carrying out foreign-related rule of law construction, continuously built and improved the legal network for international cooperation in the SAR, and helped the SAR deepen the construction of "one center, one platform, one base". The purpose of holding this forum is to make good use of Macao's unique conditions, explore the treasures of Chinese and Western legal culture, and jointly promote the progress of human legal civilization.
Huang Shaoze, Secretary for Administration and Justice of the Macau SAR Government, delivered a speech stating that Macau's legal system has a typical European legal tradition. We hope to enhance exchanges and cooperation in the field of rule of law through this forum, share the unique experience of European law in various countries and regions, jointly explore its development prospects, and showcase the fruitful achievements of Macau's rule of law construction under the framework of "One Country, Two Systems" to the world.
Xu Xianming, Deputy Director of the Advisory Committee of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and Pinto, Dean of the Law School of the University of Lisbon in Portugal, delivered keynote speeches at the forum. The forum has two sub forums, one focusing on the evolution of European law and the practical characteristics of the country (region), and the other on the role of European law in the sustainable development of the country (region).
This forum is hosted by the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Macau and the Macau SAR Government, and organized by the University of Macau and the Macau University of Science and Technology.
