The 23rd China ASEAN Expo and China ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, with the theme of "Sharing 3.0 Opportunities and Creating a Better Life Together", will be held in Nanning, Guangxi in the near future. The State Council Information Office held a press conference on the 1st to introduce relevant information.
This year marks the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the China ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the beginning of the China ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Action Plan (2026-2030), and a crucial year for accelerating the implementation of the upgraded protocol of the China ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0 after its signing. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both sides, China and ASEAN have achieved fruitful results in cooperation in various fields.
Vice Minister of Commerce Yan Dong introduced that in 2025, the bilateral trade volume between China and ASEAN will exceed one trillion US dollars for the first time. China has maintained its position as the largest trading partner of ASEAN for 17 consecutive years, and ASEAN has become China's largest trading partner for 6 consecutive years. The status of both parties as the most active investment partners has been further consolidated.
The 23rd China ASEAN Expo will focus on the construction of free trade zones to promote high-quality regional economic development and showcase new achievements and highlights in China ASEAN economic and trade cooperation, "said Yan Dong.
Lu Xinning, member of the Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, introduced that Timor Leste made its debut as a co organizer, which is also the first time that 11 ASEAN countries have gathered in Nanning for a "family portrait" after the expansion of ASEAN. The exhibition area has expanded from two to three, with a total exhibition area of 170000 square meters, an increase of 10000 square meters from last year.
Highlighting the application of artificial intelligence is a major feature of this year's China ASEAN Expo. Lin Honghong, Vice President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said that whether it is venue facilities, themes, agenda setting, or agenda advancement, it will highlight the deep integration of artificial intelligence and the real economy.

It is reported that the Pinglu Canal will be opened for navigation before the convening of this year's East Expo and summit. Lu Xinning said that the Pinglu Canal connects rivers and seas to the south, greatly improving the level of regional cooperation between China and ASEAN, connecting Europe and Asia to the north, and connecting China ASEAN cooperation with the "the Belt and Road". This year, it is difficult to find a place in the international exhibition area of the East Expo. Enterprises from 25 countries outside the region actively registered to participate, to some extent, they also saw this new opportunity for cooperation.
It is reported that the 23rd East Asian Expo and Summit have been included in the series of commemorative activities for the 5th anniversary of the establishment of China ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership, and leaders of China and ASEAN countries will attend at a high level.
