On the 19th, Deng Bingqiang, Secretary for Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and Luo Huanghao, Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, jointly chaired the "Hong Kong Shenzhen Port Planning and Construction Work Special Task Force" meeting in Hong Kong, continuing to promote port planning and construction work. Deng Bingqiang stated that the opening of Huanggang Port is imminent, and both Hong Kong and Shenzhen are making every effort to promote various preparatory work.
On July 31st of this year, the Huanggang Port Hong Kong Port Area was officially established, under the jurisdiction of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in accordance with local laws. The Huanggang Port located in Shenzhen will implement the "one place, two inspections" arrangement. After its official opening, it will become the most important 24-hour passenger land port between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The governments of Hong Kong and Shenzhen have signed the "Cooperation Arrangement between the People's Government of Shenzhen Municipality and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on the Implementation of 'One Place, Two Inspections' at Huanggang Port" and the "Agreement on the Use Rights of the Hong Kong Port Area and Related Extension Areas at Huanggang Port".
The teams from Hong Kong and Shenzhen went to Huanggang Port and Hong Kong Port Area together for on-site research before the meeting, inspected the preparation work, and made relevant discussions at the meeting; The meeting also reported on the progress of the Sha Tau Kok Port reconstruction project and exchanged views between the two sides.
Deng Bingqiang said that both Hong Kong and Shenzhen are making every effort to promote the preparation work of Huanggang Port, conducting various tests and drills to ensure that the port can operate safely, efficiently, and smoothly after its opening, providing high-quality services for residents and travelers between the two places.
