The 2026 Cross Strait Youth Summit, jointly hosted by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Education, the All China Youth Federation, and the Beijing Municipal People's Government, opened in Beijing on the 2nd.
Yin Li, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, stated at the opening ceremony that General Secretary Xi Jinping has always attached great importance to youth work and cared about the growth of young people. He pointed out that youth are the hope of the country and the future of the nation, and encouraged young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to rely on each other and work together to create the long-term well-being of the Chinese nation. In recent years, the exchange and cooperation between Beijing and Taiwan youth have continued to deepen, and more and more Taiwanese compatriots have shifted from tourism and sightseeing to settling down and taking root. Taiwanese students have continuously extended from short-term study tours to long-term employment and entrepreneurship. This year marks the beginning of the 15th Five Year Plan, and Beijing will continue to optimize the environment for youth development, allowing everyone to study, work, and live comfortably in Beijing with peace of mind. I hope that young people from Beijing and Taiwan can work together to promote exchanges and build friendly relations between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait; Working together for development and sharing the achievements of modernization construction; Unite with one heart to shoulder great righteousness, integrate personal ideals and pursuits into the great cause of the country, resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence" separatism and foreign interference, take the initiative to shoulder the responsibility of promoting peaceful development across the Taiwan Strait, and continuously expand the influence of Chinese culture in the world.
Song Tao, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, stated that General Secretary Xi Jinping has high expectations for the youth on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. He pointed out that only when the youth on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are good can the future of both sides be good. He encouraged the youth of China in the new era to "set lofty aspirations, bravely shoulder the responsibilities of the times," and "pave the way with youth and let ideals shine. The youth on both sides of the Straits should be ambitious, work together to achieve national rejuvenation, actively participate in the construction of Chinese path to modernization, integrate the ideal of life into the cause of the country and the nation, and work hard and unswervingly for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Youth from both sides of the Taiwan Strait should understand the great righteousness, tirelessly strive to safeguard the common homeland, firmly grasp the fate of the nation in the hands of the Chinese people themselves, safeguard, construct, and develop the common homeland of the Chinese nation, promote peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and firmly advance the great cause of national reunification. Youth from both sides of the Taiwan Strait should embark on a great journey and strive to enhance the well-being of our compatriots. We warmly welcome more Taiwanese youth to come to the mainland to pursue, build, and realize their dreams. They should be participants, contributors, and beneficiaries of cross-strait exchanges, cooperation, and integrated development, and write a brilliant chapter in their lives in their youthful struggles.
Adong, the first secretary of the Secretariat of the Communist Youth League Central Committee, expressed that General Secretary Xi Jinping earnestly encourages young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to work together, persevere and never give up, and let their youth shine in the great process of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the Chinese Dream. Looking towards the future, young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait should travel in both directions, firmly guard the cultural roots, and promote cultural exchanges between the two sides to extend to a wider range and deeper level; Seize the opportunities of the times, discuss cooperation in fields such as technological innovation, rural revitalization, and volunteer services, and join hands to start businesses and develop industries; To bravely shoulder the heavy responsibilities of the times, to think and work together, and to contribute youthful strength to the firm promotion of the great cause of national reunification.
Zhang Ronggong, Vice Chairman of the Kuomintang, stated that the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to the Chinese nation and are one family. The Kuomintang of China is willing to continue its efforts with all sectors on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, based on the common political foundation of adhering to the "1992 Consensus" and opposing "Taiwan independence", to promote exchanges and cooperation between young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, to promote peaceful development of cross-strait relations, to seek the greatest well-being for young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and to open up a magnificent path for national rejuvenation.
