The Investment Promotion Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government held its annual welcome party for international and mainland enterprises to develop in Hong Kong on the 25th, and released the results of the investment promotion work for the first half of 2026 on site.
It is reported that since January this year, Invest Hong Kong has assisted 413 overseas and mainland enterprises in opening or expanding their businesses in Hong Kong. It is expected that these enterprises will bring in over HKD 53 billion in foreign direct investment, a year-on-year increase of 36%, and create over 8600 new jobs for Hong Kong.
From the perspective of the source of enterprises, mainland enterprises account for 60% and are the largest source of investment attraction in Hong Kong; The other main sources include regions such as Europe and Asia. The industries involved cover key areas of Hong Kong's economic development, including innovative technology, financial services, business and professional services, and gold and commodity trading.
Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam attended the welcome reception and delivered a speech. He stated that under the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, Hong Kong has a unique advantage of being backed by the motherland and connected to the world. Hong Kong's strength and opportunities are reflected not only in its rising international rankings, but also in its achievements in attracting investment. The special administrative region government is making every effort to accelerate the development of the northern metropolitan area, constantly releasing new opportunities and potential.
It is reported that this event attracted over 380 business representatives to attend. Invest Hong Kong stated that it will continue to strengthen investment promotion through various preferential policies, take advantage of the opportunities brought by the northern metropolitan area, and attract more industrial chains that contribute to high-quality economic development to land in Hong Kong.
