The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) recently announced that it has established an expert group on tokenized bonds to further promote the application and expansion potential of tokenized bonds in Hong Kong.
The expert group members include representatives from industry associations, financial institutions, legal advisory firms, as well as financial infrastructure and technology suppliers. Based on the progress made so far in the tokenization of bonds by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the expert group will jointly explore policy measures, market practices, and innovative solutions.
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority stated that it will maintain communication with the members of the expert group, conduct in-depth discussions on various issues related to the development of the tokenized bond market, and review and update the composition of the expert group according to market development needs.
Xiao Feng, a member of the group and Chairman and CEO of HashKey Group, said that the large-scale implementation of tokenized bonds is not only a technical issue, but also a systematic project of legal supervision, underlying infrastructure, and industrial ecology coordination and improvement. He looks forward to providing observations and reflections from actual market operations to promote this process within the framework of the expert group's work. (Looking into the New Era)
